To support our expansion into China, we are seeking a Compliance Manager with expertise in Chinese regulatory frameworks and global certification standards to ensure full compliance and uphold KAI Farm’s values in the region.
 

The Compliance Manager for the China Market will be based in Guangzhou and will oversee KAI Farm’s compliance strategy within China. This critical role requires a professional with deep knowledge of Chinese regulatory landscapes, sustainability certifications, and risk management. The Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with our China team and global leadership, ensuring that KAI Farm’s practices meet both local and international standards for ethics and sustainability.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

✲ Compliance Program Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program specific to the Chinese market, aligning with KAI Farm’s ethical and sustainable values.
✲ Regulatory Monitoring: Track, analyze, and interpret Chinese regulatory changes that may impact KAI Farm’s operations. Ensure timely communication of these changes to the leadership team and provide action plans.
✲ Certification Oversight: Maintain KAI Farm’s certifications, including UTZ, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance, ensuring full compliance with these standards and coordinating the certification process for Chinese operations.
✲ Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct compliance risk assessments specific to China, identifying potential issues and creating proactive mitigation strategies. Lead regular audits and ensure prompt resolution of any compliance findings.
✲ Training and Capacity Building: Develop training programs for KAI Farm’s China team to promote awareness of compliance requirements and foster a culture of ethical practices.
✲ Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary contact for Chinese regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and local partners. Build strong relationships to facilitate regulatory approvals, ensure transparency, and address any compliance matters.
✲ Issue Resolution and Investigations: Investigate compliance-related issues, collaborate with relevant teams for resolution, and document findings for the leadership team, helping prevent future occurrences.
 

Qualifications and Experience

 

✲ Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) is a plus.
✲ Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in compliance, preferably within the agricultural, food, or manufacturing sectors in China.
✲ Expertise in Standards and Certifications: Strong knowledge of sustainability standards and experience managing certifications such as Fair Trade, UTZ, and Rainforest Alliance.
✲ Analytical and Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate complex compliance requirements effectively and persuasively to diverse audiences.
✲ Adaptability and Cultural Awareness: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a Chinese context, with an understanding of local regulatory and cultural nuances.
✲ Language Proficiency: Fluency in Mandarin and English is required; proficiency in other regional dialects is an advantage.
