We prioritize responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and empowering local farmers. As part of our commitment to expand our footprint and elevate standards in Africa, we are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager. This role is essential to ensuring that KAI Farm’s operations align with both local regulatory frameworks and internationally recognized sustainability standards.

The Compliance Manager for the Africa Region will be based in Accra, Ghana, and will oversee KAI Farm’s compliance strategy across our operations in the African market. This role requires a seasoned professional who will ensure that KAI Farm’s activities adhere to all relevant regulations and ethical standards, particularly in relation to UTZ, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications. The Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with our leadership team and local offices, providing expertise on regulatory requirements, risk management, and compliance best practices to support the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

✲ Compliance Program Management: Develop, implement, and continuously update a robust compliance program tailored to the African market, ensuring full alignment with KAI Farm’s ethical values and sustainability commitments.
✲ Regulatory Monitoring: Actively monitor, analyze, and interpret changes in local, regional, and international regulations that may impact KAI Farm’s African operations. Keep the leadership team informed of regulatory changes and recommend necessary actions.
✲ Certification Oversight: Ensure compliance with global sustainability certifications such as UTZ, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of certification standards and coordinating certification processes.
✲ Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular compliance risk assessments to identify potential issues, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate those risks. This includes performing periodic audits and ensuring all findings are documented and addressed promptly.
✲ Training and Capacity Building: Design and implement training programs for KAI Farm staff on compliance policies and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical practices across all teams.
✲ Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for local regulatory authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Develop strong relationships to facilitate regulatory approvals, maintain open communication, and address any compliance concerns that arise.
✲ Issue Resolution and Investigations: Lead the investigation of any compliance-related issues or breaches, collaborating with internal teams to resolve problems efficiently and prevent recurrence. Document all investigations and report findings to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience

✲ Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) is highly desirable.
✲ Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance management, preferably within the agricultural, food, or related sectors. Proven experience working within regulatory landscapes in Africa is a significant advantage.
✲ Expertise in Standards and Certifications: Strong knowledge of industry standards, including Fair Trade, UTZ, and Rainforest Alliance, with hands-on experience managing these certifications.
✲ Analytical and Communication Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance requirements clearly and persuasively to diverse teams.
